Rosato | 2024

Our Rosato is a fresh and drinkable Rosé, more similar to a French wine than a traditional Tuscan Rosé—which are typically darker in color and more structured. We harvest the grapes in the last week of August and press them immediately, after which they are cold-fermented for three weeks, as you would with a white wine. The result is an incredibly fresh and vibrant Rosé, with great color, intriguing acidity, and a touch of aroma.

Harvest Notes

2024 will go down in history as a unique year, dominated by an intense and extremely hot summer. Under these conditions, the Sangiovese took its time. The result? Perfect grapes for creating an elegant Rosé, a lively Chianti Classico, and a Riserva with great personality: wines in which fruit is the undisputed protagonist.

Thanks to our heroic viticulture, even in a challenging year like this, the tannins were silky and the ripening was complete, yielding juicy, crisp, and irresistible wines. Bottles made to be drunk... and drunk again.

Harvest Notes

2023 was a difficult but rewarding vintage. A rainy spring led to a devastating attack of downy mildew, which affected all of central and southern Italy. Our location in southern Chianti was an advantage, making the attack less devastating than in cooler parts of the denomination, where several producers lost over 50%. This naturally required repeated copper treatments, which are permitted in organic farming.

Another effect was that the harvest was significantly delayed, with the Sangiovese harvest taking place entirely in October, whereas it is usually completed by the end of September. Despite this, the resulting wines are harmonious and balanced, with excellent overall quality.

Harvest Notes

The 2022 vintage was a hot one but not as dry as 2017. In these situations, our Sangiovese adapts to the circumstances, slowing its vigor to conserve energy while waiting for the rain, which promptly arrived at the end of August, accelerating optimal ripeness.

The end of summer brought some sunburn at the ends of the rows and in areas less protected by leaves, leading us to harvest a small vat of less-than-perfect grapes, so as not to compromise the quality of the rest of the harvest. This resulted in balanced and fruity wines. For Cabernet Sauvignon, it was perhaps the best vintage ever produced.
