Our work in the vineyards has delivered tannins ever more smooth and silky, and through careful selection of our best grapes, and 24 months of aging in Slavonian oak barrels, our Sangiovese now shows the character we have always looked for: fruit-driven wines, smooth, powerful, aromatic, salty. Our position at the warm southern tip of the Chianti Classico region gives rise to bold and intense fruit that is showcased in this perfectly rounded Chianti Classico Riserva. Certified organic.

2020 has been an anomalous year, with grapes that reached ripeness very early and very fast. It is unclear whether this could have been the effect of a spring frost that cost us 15% of buds in April. September was warm, with a small percentage of over-ripe grapes, which we selected and harvested separately, so as not to compromise the remaining crop with stewed flavours.

Notwithstanding the erratic climate, the end result is fantastically exuberant and expressive wines, for Sangiovese possibly the best vintage produced to date.

After the difficult 2017 vintage and the balanced 2018 vintage, 2019 was certainly a step forward, even if the climate was very similar to that of 2018. A hot summer cooled by storms led to a perfect ripening period, alternating mild days and cool nights, the little extra details that characterize a great vintage.

The wines are powerful and extroverted, but at the same time balanced, with intensity and concentration contrasting with balance and fresh acidity, crisp fruitiness and soft, silky tannins. An exceptional vintage and wines that invite you to drink.

Unlike the very difficult 2017, 2018 was a balanced year, with rainfall at the right time and ideal climate conditions. The summer was warm, but still punctuated with cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually and with complexity.

Also the Cabernet delivered the goods, with intense dark fruit flavours, power and smooth tannins.
